Host Home Training - Session #1 (Saturday 8/25)

WOW...what a great night!!!

We had our first (of three) Host Home Training Sessions tonight at the Cooper City campus in Room A-126...and it was SO MUCH fun!

The room was decked out in all "fish bowls", with an under the sea DVD playing in the back, snacks, drinks, and coffee, cool games, and a lot of fun people! We had a great time playing a fun little ice breaker (thanks again Sammy...it was awesome!)

Congrats to table #3 for the creative fish...I personally think it was the "story" that tipped you guys into the WIN category. All in all, the finished "projects" were fun, creative, and a great way to get to know each other.

Please pray for me and the rest of the Membership team...we have two more Host Home Training (HHT) sessions tomorrow, August 26th...one at 10:30am - 12:00pm, and another one at 6:30pm - 8:00pm.

If you have any friends that weren't able to attend tonight please encourage them to come and enjoy the meeting, pickup their MyNakedPastor small groups sets, and enjoy the get together...BUT...don't tell them what the game is or I will take back your Starbuck's cards! ;)

Thanks for coming...see you soon!
Melissa

Host Home Training This Weekend (8/25-26)

This weekend we are officially starting our NEW Small Groups Ministry with a Host Home Training session at the Cooper City Campus.

We will be meeting in Room A-126 at the following times:
Saturday 8/25 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Sunday 8/26 10:30am - 12:00pm
Sunday 8/26 6:30pm - 8:00pm

At this training session we will be talking about the goal of the Small Groups Ministry, introduce you to the teams, Play a really funny game (Thanks Pastor Sammy for the GREAT IDEA!), and go over the My Naked Pastor series goals, materials, and expectations.

Make it a point to be at one of the sessions, and if you can't make it please let us know so we can get you a copy of the DVD we are making of this session. I can't wait to launch all the groups, the community of Small Groups, and the ministry of Flamingo Road Church.

See you there,
Melissa

Picking Your Team

Therefore, brethern, seek out from amng you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. ~Acts 6:3

Red Auerbach, long-time president of the Boston Celtics, said, "How you select people is more important than how you manage them once they're on the job. If you start with the right people, you won't have problems later on." You have to begin with the right raw materials in order to create a winning team.

I want the people close to me to...
Know my Heart: This takes time for both of us and desire on their part.
Be Loyal to Me: They are an extension of me and my work.
Be Trustworthy: They must not abuse authority, power, or confidences.
Be Discerning: They make decisions for me.
Have a Servant's Heart: They carry a heavy load because of my high demands.
Be a Good Thinker: Our two heads are better than my one.
Be Able to Follow Through: They take authority and carry out the vision.
Have a Great Heart for God: My heart for God is my driving force in life.

All the above came from, "Developing the Leaders Around You", by John Maxwell

Getting Excited about new Groups!

WOW!!! We are plowing ahead and getting ready for what could be a MIRACLE!!

If you told me two months ago that we were trying (praying, praying, and praying some more) to turn our 28 current small groups into 200 small groups for the new series, MyNakedPastor.com I would have said that you were looney! ;) But...in only a month we have taken the list from 28 to 65, and I know that that is God, so I truly have no reason to doubt that we could get to 200.

In only two weekends of having an insert in the bulletin we have gone from 10 weekly communication cards about joining a small group to over 150 groups cards this past weekend. AMAZING!!!

I can't wait to see what God is going to do this ministry season at Flamingo Road Church....hang on tight, it is going to be an awesome ride! ;)
